BioJapan is Asia’s premier partnering event for the global biotechnology industry. The event is a critical platform for industry and academic experts in the drug discovery, personalised medicine, regenerative medicine and diagnostics sectors. In 2018, BioJapan had 870+ exhibitors from 34 countries and attracted 16,000+ visitors to the conference which is regarded as the biggest international conference in this field in Asia. More than 10,000 one-on-one business meetings were organised through their Online Partnering Program.

Austrade will coordinate Team Australia’s presence at BioJapan 2019. In conjunction with CSIRO, MTPConnect, AusBiotech and support from the South Australian, Victorian and Western Australian state governments, the Australian Government aims to increase awareness of Australia’s Life Sciences sector, high quality research capabilities, and position Australia’s biotech expertise to Japanese and international audiences. The aim is to enhance further collaboration between Australian and Japanese life sciences and medical research communities.

South Australian companies attending BioJapan 2019 were invited to travel to Seoul and participate in a two-day roadshow sponsored by the Department for Trade, Tourism and Investment and coordinated by Austrade Seoul office. The roadshow will include a roundtable event and one-on-one partnering meetings with Korean biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies, as well as an exploratory visit to biotechnology cluster in Daejeon and a small seminar.
